Why visit Mértola
Seen from the water, the village of Mértola seems out of time, full of ancient and historical memories wherever you look.
We’ll drive you there to paddleboard on the waters of the Guadiana river. Lunch and, on Tours 2 and 3, a visit to the castle and its museum are included too. A one-day tour that mixes adventure, gastronomy and history — you will be amazed. Please note that we only run these tours from October to April.
Three tours to choose from
On Tours 1 and 2 we start paddling in one place and finish in another. On Tour 3 we start and finish in the same place, in Mértola.
- Tour 1 — 9 km of paddling + lunch in Penha d'Águia
- Tour 2 — 7 km of paddling + lunch in Mértola + castle and museum visit
- Tour 3 — 4 km of paddling + lunch in Mértola + castle and museum visit
Tour 1 programme
- 9:30 am — Departure from Eolis in Cabanas de Tavira (1h15 drive in our van)
- 10:45 am — Setting up and 9 km paddleboard tour
- 1 pm — Lunch at a traditional restaurant in Penha d'Águia
- 3 pm — Return to Eolis in Cabanas de Tavira

- 9:30 am — Departure from Eolis in Cabanas de Tavira (1h15 drive in our van)
- 10:45 am — Setting up and paddleboard tour (7 km on Tour 2, 4 km on Tour 3)
- 1 pm — Lunch at a traditional restaurant in Mértola
- 2:30 pm — Visit to the castle and its museum
- 5 pm — Return to Eolis in Cabanas de Tavira
